A room placement sheet for a multi-floor move

Choose names that can be found on arrival

Use a floor level and simple location where room names are ambiguous: upstairs front bedroom, lower-level office or main-floor dining room. Put the same name on the placement sheet, cartons and a temporary sign at the room.

List the largest furniture beneath each destination room. A sketch can show intended positions without becoming a detailed decorating plan. Mark any piece whose fit or access still needs review before booking.

Give the plan to the delivery contact

Choose who can answer placement questions and open the property. Share the sheet before the moving date, along with access windows, stairs and any separate entrance. If two people will be directing the move, make sure both use the same version.

Keep storage, donation and removal destinations separate from room labels. A carton marked basement does not explain whether it belongs in the new house or a planned storage load. Write the destination first when the load is split.

Prioritize the rooms you need first

Identify first-night bedding, bathroom items, work essentials and daily kitchen contents. Keep medication, documents and valuables in your care. If unpacking is requested, name the rooms and the intended result so the task has a clear boundary.

Decide where empty boxes and packing materials should be gathered. Update the placement sheet if the furniture list changes, and remove old labels that could send a piece to the wrong floor.
