Measure the piece, not only its footprint

Record the height, width and depth of bulky furniture. Note protruding arms, feet, handles or parts that may be removable, and photograph the construction. Ask the team about disassembly rather than taking apart unfamiliar furniture without a plan.

A room layout still matters. Compare the intended position with doors, radiators and space to open drawers. A furniture-fit sheet is a planning aid; dimensions alone do not guarantee a safe carrying route.

Follow the complete carrying route

Photograph the doorway, hall, stair landing and final room at both addresses. Measure the clear opening available when doors are open, and note turns or changes in level. Include the exterior approach from the likely loading position.

Keep photos in sequence so another person can follow the route. If an elevator is involved, ask the building contact about dimensions and moving arrangements; record the stairs that remain before or after the elevator.

Send one readable review pack

Put the furniture name, dimensions and route photos together. Flag any uncertainty explicitly so the team can discuss the handling before the date is confirmed. Keep the same furniture names on the inventory and destination sheet.

Share changes if a piece is sold, replaced or assigned to storage. At the destination, matching room labels help place the furniture according to the reviewed plan rather than a new decision made during unloading.
